Matt seems like someone who reflects a lot on his work and process. His answers to my questions were well-thought-out, clear and in-depth. He gave me insights on leadership, and how a UX designer can potentially develop into the manager role.
Matt was an excellent mentor! He provided me with a variety of quality tips and advice on career direction, my portfolio and even some new resources to check out. He gave me confidence in my ability to transition across into the UX/UI fields and practical advice on how to utilize my Graphic Design and Branding skills to land a job. I really appreciate the time and knowledge that Matt shared with me and can highly recommend him as a mentor.
Matt made sure to understand what I wanted to talk about during our 1:1 by emailing me before our session - talk about preparation and empathy! During our 30-min call, he gave me detailed and actionable feedback on how I could improve my portfolio to appeal to mid-level product design positions (which I was able to get ~5 weeks after our call!). I think great leaders and mentors show true empathy and encouragement, and Matt is one of those leaders. He made me feel heard and instilled the confidence I needed for my upcoming job search!
Matt is really an experienced UX designer, shared with me his insights about UX interviews and how I should prepare for that. That was helpful for me as a newbie to the job market. He is super nice, and quickly gets to the point. I really enjoyed speaking with him.
Matt was a pleasure to talk to, he is very knowledgable and has a vast experience in UX field. His insights were important in understanding how to navigate a possible relocation for my job search. Also, our mutual love for football was icing on the cake, and talking about his time at the English Football association (FA) was one of most exciting conversations I have had recently, inspiring me to pursue my long-life dream of one day working for Real Madrid. He reminded me that dreams are meant to be chased. After our conversation, I walked firmly knowing that making it happen is well within my hand's reach
